When landlords review rent

Most rent reviews happen at renewal or after a fixed term ends, and the increase should reflect what similar local properties are letting for.

Rules to be aware of

For assured shorthold tenancies, increases within a fixed term usually need a rent review clause or the tenant's agreement, and statutory notice periods apply to increases at renewal.

How this calculator works

It subtracts the current rent from the proposed rent to give the monthly and annual increase, then expresses that as a percentage of the current rent.

What it does not include

It does not check whether an increase is fair for the local market or compliant with your tenancy agreement or local rules.
