Redbridge is an outer north-east London borough where rents sit below the London average overall, with variation between the more suburban feel of Woodford and Wanstead and the busier centres of Ilford and Gants Hill. The borough borders Essex, giving parts of it a more suburban feel than much of the rest of London.
The borough has a strong stock of 1930s semi-detached and terraced housing, particularly around Gants Hill and Ilford, along with larger houses in Woodford Green and Wanstead, giving Redbridge a distinctly suburban and family character compared with inner London boroughs, and many streets retain generous front and rear gardens.
The Central line runs through much of the borough, calling at Wanstead, Redbridge, Gants Hill and Newbury Park, while the Elizabeth line serves Ilford and Seven Kings, cutting journey times into central London considerably, so tenants include commuting professionals and a large number of families attracted by the housing stock and schools, particularly the borough's well-regarded grammar schools.
For a landlord, the arrival of the Elizabeth line has widened the pool of tenants able to consider Redbridge for a reasonable commute, and family houses in the borough tend to see longer tenancies than the flat-dominated markets closer to central London, which can reduce the frequency of finding a new tenant. Ilford town centre, meanwhile, offers a wider range of shops and amenities than much of the rest of the borough, supporting demand from tenants who want a busier, more urban environment.
The borough has strong South Asian heritage, particularly around Ilford, reflected in the shops and restaurants along Ilford Lane and the High Road, and Valentines Park in Ilford is one of the larger green spaces in outer east London, adding to the areas appeal for families looking for local amenities close to home.

Finding your tenant
We manage, we do not let. When your property is empty we appoint one of the best letting agents in your area to find the tenant. Their fee is agreed with you in writing before anything starts, and Caso adds nothing to it. We brief the agent, approve the marketing, check every applicant's referencing, handle the move-in and protect the deposit. You deal with one company throughout.
- Agent chosen on results, not on who we know
- Fee agreed in writing before marketing starts
- Caso takes nothing from the agent
