Islington is an inner London borough and rents are well above the London average, driven by its location close to the City and the West End and by its reputation for period housing and good transport links. It is a compact, densely built borough with little in the way of open suburban space, which keeps demand concentrated on its residential streets.
Georgian and Victorian terraces line much of the borough, particularly around Barnsbury, Canonbury and the New River Conservation Area, and many of these have been converted into flats over the years. Angel and Upper Street also have a concentration of purpose-built and converted flats above shops, cafes and restaurants, while Finsbury Park and Holloway to the north have a slightly less formal, more mixed housing stock, including some larger converted houses split into several flats.
Angel, Highbury and Islington, and Old Street stations connect the borough to the City, Shoreditch and the West End within minutes, and the Victoria and Northern lines along with the East London line make commuting straightforward, so tenants tend to be young professionals, sharers and couples working in the City, media or tech sectors. A smaller number of established families remain in the larger period houses around Barnsbury and Canonbury.
This concentration of working professionals means demand is closely tied to office-based employment in central London, so a landlord letting here is generally letting into a market with strong transport credentials and consistent interest from tenants who want to be close to work, and turnover between tenancies tends to be relatively quick given the young, mobile nature of much of the tenant base.

Finding your tenant
We manage, we do not let. When your property is empty we appoint one of the best letting agents in your area to find the tenant. Their fee is agreed with you in writing before anything starts, and Caso adds nothing to it. We brief the agent, approve the marketing, check every applicant's referencing, handle the move-in and protect the deposit. You deal with one company throughout.
- Agent chosen on results, not on who we know
- Fee agreed in writing before marketing starts
- Caso takes nothing from the agent
