St Helens, to the east of Liverpool towards Manchester, sits outside the city itself but is included here as part of the wider Merseyside rental market, with rents below the Liverpool average. The town has a mix of Victorian terraces near the centre, associated with its industrial and glassmaking past, and later semi-detached housing in the surrounding suburbs.

St Helens Central and St Helens Junction stations provide rail links towards Liverpool and Manchester, and the M62 passes just to the south of the town, giving good road access across the region. St Helens is also known locally for rugby league, with the town's team a source of local pride, though this has little bearing on the rental market.

Tenants here are largely working families and commuters travelling into Liverpool, Manchester or Warrington, along with some tenants connected to the town's remaining industrial and logistics employers. Demand is steady, and terraced and semi-detached family houses are the most common property types landlords will be letting.

For a landlord, St Helens offers lower entry prices and can produce solid yields as a result, particularly for properties near the stations or motorway. Given the age of much of the housing stock in the town centre, ongoing maintenance should be factored into any investment, and a well presented home will generally let faster than a dated one at a similar rent. Landlords should also note that St Helens' position between Liverpool and Manchester on the rail and motorway network gives it broader commuter appeal than its town centre size might suggest.

Finding your tenant

We manage, we do not let. When your property is empty we appoint one of the best letting agents in your area to find the tenant. Their fee is agreed with you in writing before anything starts, and Caso adds nothing to it. We brief the agent, approve the marketing, check every applicant's referencing, handle the move-in and protect the deposit. You deal with one company throughout.

  • Agent chosen on results, not on who we know
  • Fee agreed in writing before marketing starts
  • Caso takes nothing from the agent
