Bromley is London's largest borough by area and sits in the outer south east, with rents generally at or below the London average, though prices in Bromley town centre itself run higher than the borough's more rural fringes. Housing ranges from Victorian and Edwardian terraces near the centre to substantial detached and semi-detached houses in areas such as Chislehurst, Petts Wood and Orpington. Southeastern rail services link Bromley South, Orpington, Petts Wood and Beckenham into London Bridge and Victoria, and the borough also has Tramlink connections in the north around Beckenham. The A21 and A232 are the main roads through the area. Much of Bromley retains a green, suburban feel, with parts of the borough within the Metropolitan Green Belt.

The London Borough of Bromley has no selective licensing scheme currently. A shared home let to five or more people from more than one household still needs a mandatory HMO licence. A landlord buying in Bromley should weigh the sale price against the achievable rent before the yield is meaningful.
