Hoole lies just north east of Chester city centre and is one of the more popular residential areas for renters, with rents around or slightly above the Chester average. Housing is mostly Victorian and Edwardian terraces along and around Hoole Road and Faulkner Street, with some larger houses further out towards the edge of the suburb.

Cheshire West and Chester Council has no selective licensing scheme currently. A shared home let to five or more people from more than one household still needs a mandatory HMO licence. A landlord buying in Hoole should weigh the sale price against the achievable rent before the yield is meaningful.
