Boughton lies just east of Chester city centre, along the old Roman road towards Christleton, and rents sit around the middle of the Chester range. Housing is a mix of Victorian and Edwardian terraces close to the city, with some larger detached and semi-detached homes further out towards Christleton Road, giving a reasonable spread of property sizes for different tenant budgets.
Cheshire West and Chester Council has no selective licensing scheme currently. A shared home let to five or more people from more than one household still needs a mandatory HMO licence. A landlord buying in Boughton should weigh the sale price against the achievable rent before the yield is meaningful.
